The library collection

Our library collection contains:

• books
• combined media items (i.e. book and CD/CD-ROM/DVD)
• magazines, newspapers
• audiobooks
• language courses
• games
• sheet music
• CDs, MCs
• courses on video/DVD
• CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs
• VHS, DVDs

The library catalogue

The catalogue contains the media items of all libraries that are part of our library network.
Users can access the catalogue online and on the catalogue computers in all network libraries.
Via the catalogue you are able to:

• search our collection
• reserve borrowed media items
• order media items from other network libraries

Internet facilities in the library

Public computers with Internet access are available in:

• the "Haupt- und Musikbibliothek" (Main and Music library) and in the "medien@age" (twelve computers in each of these locations)
• the branch libraries of Gorbitz and Weixdorf (two computers in each of these locations)
• all other branch libraries (one computer in each of these locations)

Library members are given the possibility to use the Internet facilities for free (for 30 minutes if other users wait).
Users only have to log in with their library card to access the Internet.
All libraries in the network offer the opportunity of making black-and-white print-outs from the Internet.
Furthermore, users can download data files onto USB sticks at all computers with Internet access.

Your user account

Users have the opportunity to access their user account at all times. They can access it via the library websites as well as the catalogue computers in our libraries.
In order to access the member account it is required to enter the User-ID (as stated on the library card) and the personal four-digit code (consisting of the day and the month of birth, i.e. date of birth 9th August 1956 = personal code: 0908).

The member account offers the following possibilities:

• Library members can check which items they have already borrowed and when they are due.
• They are also able to check the current status of their reservations and orders.
• They can renew their borrowed items.
